Purpose

This policy describes how Florida Principles PAC intends to govern cookies, local storage, analytics tags, and similar browser technologies on its public website.

Scope

This policy applies to PAC-controlled public website pages and public digital features. It does not control cookies or tracking technologies used by third-party websites, social platforms, payment processors, embedded services, or government sources.

Definitions

• Cookie: A small file or browser value placed on a user's device by a website.
• Essential technology: Browser storage needed for security, preferences, form operation, or site functionality.
• Analytics technology: Tools used to understand aggregate site usage.
• Third-party technology: A cookie, script, pixel, or similar tool controlled by another provider.

Policy Statements

The PAC should use only cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for website operation, security, accessibility, analytics, or approved public communication needs. Any analytics or advertising technology must be reviewed before deployment.

The PAC should avoid using browser technologies to collect sensitive personal information or create political targeting profiles unless a specific lawful and attorney-verified basis has been approved and accurately disclosed.

Where cookie consent, opt-out, or disclosure requirements apply, implementation is subject to applicable law and attorney verification.

Responsibilities

Technical administrators must maintain an inventory of material browser technologies. The policy owner must approve new tracking or analytics tools before use. Vendors must be reviewed for consistency with privacy and records expectations.

User Rights and Responsibilities

Users may control cookies through browser settings. Disabling some technologies may affect site functionality. Users may contact the PAC with questions about public-site browser technologies.

Prohibited Conduct

The PAC should not deploy undisclosed advertising pixels, hidden tracking tools, or third-party scripts without review. Users must not attempt to manipulate website security or session controls.

Review and Enforcement

Suspected unauthorized tracking or unapproved scripts must be investigated, removed or disabled when appropriate, documented, and escalated for review.

Corrections or Appeals Process

Questions or objections may be submitted through the contact page. The PAC should review the relevant technology, vendor, and disclosure language.

Records and Retention

Cookie inventories, tool approvals, vendor records, and related reviews should be retained as governance records subject to retention policy.
