Copyright Policy
Draft Notice
This Copyright Policy is Draft v0.1 for Founder Review and Legal Review. It is Not Attorney Reviewed, Not Board Approved, and Not Published. It is not legal advice and is subject to applicable law and attorney verification.
Purpose
This policy describes proposed rules for PAC website materials, reuse requests, attribution, user-submitted content, and copyright concerns.
Scope
This policy applies to PAC-created website content, public documents, graphics, page text, downloadable materials, and user-submitted materials where public features allow submissions. It does not grant rights in third-party materials, government records, platform marks, or externally sourced content.
Definitions
- PAC content: Content created or controlled by Florida Principles PAC.
- Third-party content: Content owned or controlled by someone else.
- Rights request: A request to reuse, remove, correct, or attribute content.
Policy Statements
PAC content should be published with clear ownership, attribution, and reuse expectations. Public factual references and government-source citations should remain distinguishable from PAC-created commentary or design.
The PAC should not knowingly publish third-party copyrighted material without permission, license, fair-use review, public-domain status, or another approved basis subject to attorney verification.
User submissions may require rights representations before publication.
Responsibilities
Content authors must identify third-party materials before publication. The Founder or designated owner approves public reuse permissions. Legal review is required for disputes, takedown demands, or uncertain rights.
User Rights and Responsibilities
Users may request permission to reuse PAC content or report a copyright concern. Users submitting content must submit only materials they are authorized to provide.
Prohibited Conduct
Users must not submit infringing, misattributed, or unauthorized content. The PAC should not remove attribution from third-party materials or imply ownership of public records it does not own.
Review and Enforcement
Copyright concerns should be logged, reviewed, and escalated. Potentially infringing content may be removed or disabled pending review.
Corrections or Appeals Process
Rights requests should identify the material, location, claimed ownership or authorization, requested action, and contact information.
Records and Retention
Permissions, licenses, takedown requests, attribution decisions, and review notes should be retained as publication records.
